Thomas G. Swoboda

d. March 21, 2020

Swoboda, Thomas Gene, 64, of Saint Paul, MO, died on March 21, 2020.

Thomas was born in Saint Louis, MO and went to Pattonville High School, he continued on to Saint Louis Community College to receive his Associate’s Degree. Thomas began his first job at Coca-Cola when he was 17 years old. He continued to work there for 42 years as a Warehouse Laborer and Shop Steward, until he retired at 59 years old. He was known as the “Godfather” or mentor to all he worked alongside. With conviction, he represented, led, and organized the union as a Teamster, helping to make company-wide decisions in service of Coca-Cola’s employees.

Thomas was married to Sandra Revelle Swoboda on May 23, 1987. They were married for 32 years. Survived by his wife, Sandra Swoboda; two daughters, Krystal and Ariel Swoboda; his grandchild Thomas Ray Swoboda; siblings, Sylvia Kiphart and David Gallagher; his niece, Erin Spencer; and great nephew, Liam Spencer. Nephews: Garry (Beverly) Kiphart, Michael (Julie) Kiphart, and Danny (Sue) Kiphart. Great nieces; Brittany Kiphart and her son, Lucas; Ashley Reid and her children, Alexa, Jaxon, and Kylie; and great nephew Drew (Kelly) Kiphart

Thomas was an active volunteer and member in his church. He supported numerous events, including the Saint Paul Picnic as a community chairperson. He worked very hard to help provide his children a wonderful life and found true joy in spending time with his family.

Interested in adventure and marine life, Thomas became a PADI certified Master Scuba Diver. He spent many months exploring the Floridian coast and photographing the many sea creatures he admired. Barbecuing and spending time outdoors had always been two of his favorite activities. Like a good wine, Thomas savored time spent with his closest friends during hunting and fishing trips, was knowledgeable about local wildlife, and tended to his yard and home with the utmost care. After he retired, Thomas proudly began his own lawn care business. He cared for neighbor’s yards and freely offered his handy-man assistance all throughout the year. From snow-plowing driveways to installing appliances, Thomas took pleasure in simply being there to help.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Timothy Swoboda and Wanda Gene Swoboda; brother, Carl Yowell and his sister-in-law, Barbara Gallagher.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. We will update the website when we have service information.
