Shirley Ann Hilmes (née Lefholz), 87, of Florissant, Missouri, passed away on April 23, 2026.

Shirley was born June 20, 1938, in Clayton, Missouri, and graduated from Hermann High School. She married Frederick Bernard Hilmes on October 13, 1956, and they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage.

Shirley worked for many years as a tax preparer and bookkeeper, where she was deeply valued and cherished by her clients. She was a talented dancer and accordionist and had a lifelong love of cats. Shirley enjoyed musical theatre, classic television, swimming, and collecting seashells at the beach. Above all, she adored her family and was a constant source of care, love, and support to those around her.

She is survived by her children, Pamela LaMartina, Kevin Hilmes, and Kathleen McNeill; her grandchildren, Josh (Manda) LaMartina, Kevin (Sarah) Hilmes, Jess (Mark) Tendler, Katie (Bharath) Johancen, Andi (Andy) Ross, Daniel McNeill, Sarah Hilmes, and Jordan McNeill; and her great-grandchildren, Skylee, Charlotte, Evelyn, Daphne, Natalia, Archer, Saylor, and Benson. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Lefholz, and was a beloved sister-in-law and aunt to many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Hilmes; her parents, Oscar and Effie Lefholz; her brothers-in-law, Kenneth Hilmes and John Hilmes; and her sister-in-law, Linda Lefholz.

A memorial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Hermann, Missouri. A graveside service will follow at Loutre Island Cemetery.

She was the heart of her family, and her love will be carried forward in each generation she leaves behind.
