Sherman A. Crews Jr.

February 2, 1958 — June 8, 2023

O'Fallon, MO

Sherman A Crews, Jr., 65, of O’Fallon, MO, entered his heavenly home on June 8th, 2023.

Sherman (also known by many as Junior) was born February 2, 1958, in Springfield, MO.  He graduated Alton High School, Alton, MO, in 1976.  He worked on his family farm and later worked as a welder and materials planner at Southwest (now DRS) in West Plains, MO for 19 years.

He married the love of his life and soul mate, DeAnna Joiner on January 1st, 2005 and shared 18 ½ wonderful years together.  They moved to the St. Louis area in 2007 where he used his excellent welding & artistic skills to open their ornamental iron business.  He truly enjoyed all the metal projects he designed & fabricated no matter how big or how small and he loved visiting with all their customers.  He was an artist in the metal industry and was thrilled to pass on his knowledge, work ethic, and skill set to his workers.

Sherman was a devout Christian and would volunteer his services for the churches whenever he could.  He loved the Lord and relied on Him and His word to get him through his cancer journey.

He is survived by his wife DeAnna, of the home, three sons, Bryan (and Stephanie) Joiner – St. Peters, MO, Jeremy Crews- Savannah, GA, and Stanton Crews- Las Vegas, NV., three sisters, Carolyn ( and Charles) Trantham- Alton, MO, Marilyn ( and Mark) Eldringhoff- West Plains, MO., and Diana Yates- Fordland, MO., and one brother-in-law John (and Theresa) Dietzman- Plover, WI.  God blessed him with four grandchildren, Ava Joiner, Harper Joiner, Hayes Joiner, and Hawkins Joiner – St. Peters, MO.  He was so proud to be their Papa and he adored them immensely.  He was also blessed with two bonus sons, Coda Ryan & Ryan McDermott- both of O’Fallon, MO., who are carrying on the trade that Sherman passed on to them.  He has several other family members, friends, and brothers & sisters in Christ that will miss him dearly.

Sherman was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman & Ruth Crews, his brother Grover Crews, his sister-in-law Darlene Crews, his nephew Justin Crews, and his brother-in-law Monte Yates.

A celebration of life will be held at Grace River Church in St. Peters, MO on Saturday, June 17th, 2023, at 10:00 am.

Another celebration of life will be held at the Alton Freewill Baptist Church, in Alton, MO on Saturday, June 24th, at 2:00 pm.
