July 29, 1943 — February 6, 2026

St. Louis, Missouri

Ronald Eugene York (known to many as Ron or Ronnie), of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026, at the age of 82.

Ron’s greatest value in life was his family. He was the beloved husband of Carol York, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage, and a devoted father to his sons, Jamie (Laura), Finley (Amanda), and Kevin York. He was also a proud grandfather to Tom, Terri, Jesse, Brooke, Maia, and Aiden, and a proud great-grandfather to Mia, Spencer, Cam, and Saint.

He was a loving brother to Laquita Allen (Roy), Mike York (Yvonne), and Tammy York, and the dear brother of the late Robert “Bob” York and the late Arlinda Wakefield. He was the son of the late Harry and Frances York and the late Carmen York, his stepmother. Ron’s family had deep roots in southeast Missouri. His parents, Harry and Frances York, owned and operated York Village, a longtime roadside stop on U.S. Highway 67 in rural Williamsville, north of Poplar Bluff.

Ron began his career in auto body work and went on to become a true builder and fabricator. He worked on every aspect of his projects, including engines, bodywork, metal fabrication, and final assembly, with paint work as a particular specialty. If a part didn’t exist, Ron made it. His builds won numerous first-place awards at car and motorcycle shows.

An entrepreneur at heart, Ron founded Ron York & Son’s Towing, which he owned and operated for seventeen years. He was also a longtime member of the Road Saints Motorcycle Club and a familiar presence at car shows.

Away from the garage and shows, Ron enjoyed fishing, traveling, and time spent with family.

Ron is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Geri, Debbie (Bill), Peggy, and Rose (Paul), with whom he shared a close and meaningful bond.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date to be announced here.
