Robert “Bob” McLean

December 1, 1945 – September 22, 2025

Robert “Bob” McLean, 79, of St. Louis, Missouri passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Born on December 1, 1945, to Walter and Lucille McLean, Bob lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and quiet generosity.

After serving proudly in the U.S. Navy, Bob returned home and bought his parents their very first house—a gift that reflected his lifelong habit of putting others before himself. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, saving and sacrificing to ensure his children had opportunities he never had. He was especially proud to see his daughter earn several advanced degrees, a milestone he always encouraged with the reminder that education was the key to success.

He is survived by his wife Karen (Pollvogt) and sister Sandy Chinnici. He was a devoted father to his late son, Michael McLean, and to his daughter, Megan (Patrick) Beckham. He was a proud and doting PaPa to Adelynn and Emery. He was a loving uncle, brother-in-law, and friend to many.

Known for his remarkable ability to fix just about anything, Bob was the family’s go-to Mr. Fix-It and problem solver. Beyond his skills, Bob will be remembered for his deep generosity and steady presence. He never hesitated to spoil his loved ones, help a neighbor, or quietly shoulder the hardest burdens. Even after great personal loss, Bob continued to care for others, visiting his wife frequently, watching his granddaughters, and remaining the steady rock of his family.

When he wasn’t lending a hand, Bob enjoyed fishing, golfing, and bowling with his best friend Bob Rawie, pastimes that brought him both joy and camaraderie.

To his family, Bob was more than a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother—he was their hero. His work ethic, humility, and unwavering love leave a legacy that will live on in every life he touched.

A Celebration of Life to honor Bob’s life will be planned at a later date.
