Phillip Joseph Vaccaro

November 17, 1940 — March 25, 2026

Saint Peters, Missouri

Phillip Vaccaro was born on November 17, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Tony and Rose Vaccaro.

He married the love of his life, Barbara (Mantia) Vaccaro, on May 28, 1960. Phillip and Barbara shared 65 wonderful years of marriage, and their love grew stronger with each passing day.

Phillip dedicated many years to his work. Before beginning his long career in the baking industry, he worked for his Uncle Jim at his grocery store. He went on to work for Wonder/Hostess for 20 years, Schnucks for 10 years, and Bunny Bread for 20 years, building lasting relationships wherever he went.

He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He cherished his family and took great pride in his five children and their many accomplishments. Phillip was also a wonderful and compassionate caregiver to his parents and to anyone in need, always offering his time, strength, and kindness without hesitation. He was a loving brother, brother-in-law, cousin, nephew, father-in-law, and friend to many.

Phillip will be remembered for his quick wit, his one-liners, and above all, his ability to make everyone feel at home. He never met a stranger. Wherever he went—especially on family vacations—he would inevitably run into someone he knew. Everyone knew Phil, and all enjoyed his company.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his children, Chris (John) Poelker, Lisa Anselmo and John Leone, Mike (Pam) Vaccaro, Mary (Dave) Dowty, and Julie Bishop (Vaccaro); 12 grandchildren, Nicole, Melissa, Jeremiah, John Edwin, Kiley, Johnny, Mikey, C.J., Hannah, Hunter, Andrew, and Courtney; as well as 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Dardenne (Chapel) on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, with visitation at 11:00 a.m. and the service at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hospice Foundation of America.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
