In Loving Memory
Loretta "Cookie" Lee passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
Born in 1946 to loving parents Raleigh & Lena Calvin and sister Joanie Tobias, she graduated from Troy Buchanan in 1964 and married James Lee in 1965.
While Cookie wouldn’t have described herself as adventurous, she rarely turned down a chance to travel, try something new or just enjoy life - Blues Festivals with her husband, family trips to the Florida coast, white water rafting in Tennessee, or zip lining thru the jungle at the age of 72. Her collection of brightly colored t-shirts is a testament to all the places she’s been and her desire to always remember the good times.
She will be remembered for kindness, ability to make others feel welcome and loved and her words of advice & encouragement. She taught us to forgive, find the best in people, and the good in every situation. She will be missed dearly by all who had the honor of being part of her world.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and nephews Roy Tobias and Michael Lee . She is surived by Jimmy, her husband of 57 years; her children and their spouses, Craig & Mai Lee and Carrie & Rob Bates; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren (the youngest born May 25 so Nana had a chance to hold him).
A celebration of life will occur in the coming weeks (deatils to be determined). In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with her love for animals and respect for our veterans, donations can be made in her to memory to Warrior Canine Connection (https://warriorcanineconnection.org/get-involved/donate/).
