John Francis Schlereth, a longtime resident of the St. Louis area, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Mercy Hospital at the age of 77, after previously residing at Garden View Care Center.

Born on June 18, 1949, John was known by those who loved him for possessing a famously quick wit. A dedicated working man, he began his career as an electrician on March 1, 1972, and belonged to the union for 54 years as a proud member of IBEW Local 1, carrying a deep and lifelong pride in his trade and brotherhood.

John was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Clifford Sylvester Schlereth and Alice Marie Schlereth; his brother, Clifford Schlereth; and his sister, Janet Livingston. He is survived by his loving sons, Paul Schlereth (Debbie); Jonathan Schlereth (Katie); and his cherished grandsons, Owen and Carter, who will miss him dearly.

A private family visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in John's honor to the Dementia Society of America (online at Dementia Society of America or by mail to PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901).
