John Andrew Hammock

March 26, 1957 — September 30, 2024

John Andrew Hammock, 67, passed away on September 30, 2024, in Defiance, Missouri.

Born on March 26, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri. John finished high school in Springfield MO and went on to attend the University of Southwestern Louisiana.

John married Lilley Anne Woolfolk in June of 1985; they were married until their separation in 2012. During their marriage they raised two children, a son and a daughter.

Having spent twenty plus years in sales and development rolls at various companies in the analyzer industry, in his mid 50’s John decided to become a hay farmer. December 27th, 2011, John filed with the state of Missouri for the creation of Augusta Hay Company. This company, along with a few collections, became his passion and focus for the next twelve years up to his passing on the 30th of September.

He enjoyed music from his early adolescence. John in recent years had begun the hunt for records and would stop at any record store or antique mall along his way searching for additions to his collection. He had also become an integral part of the daily routine of Alexander, his daughter’s dog; whom he would spoil with treats and truck rides.

John is survived by his two children, Nathan Hammock, Mallory Hammock (David Fuszner); his brothers Terry Hammock, William Hammock; Mother Bonnie Moore; and his good friend Xander along with Grey Cat and Pumpkin.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in John’s honor Sunday November 10th, 2024, at the Augusta Harmonie and Verein located at 5333 Hackmann Rd, Augusta, MO 63332 at 1pm. All whom may have fond memories of John are invited to attend.
