Surrounded by love and a family that treasured her so dearly, Jeanne A. Steevens (née Mitchell) of O'Fallon, MO, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019 at the age of 81. Jeanne was born on December 27th, 1937 in Lebanon, IL. She was the devoted wife of 58 years to Charles (Chuck) Steevens; loving mother of Michael (Suzanne) Steevens, Christopher (Patty) Steevens and Lori (Bryan) Bridges. Cherished Mimi of her grandchildren, Mitchell and Ryan Steevens, Kathryn and Jackson Steevens, and Karina Bridges. Jeanne was preceded in death by one brother, Louis Mitchell, her parents Russell and Virginia (née Elliott) Mitchell.
Jeanne was a Unit Secretary in the Emergency Room of Christian Northeast Hospital for over 30 years. She was impassioned about her work, as an integral part of the E.R. hospital setting and in the prized relationships she shared with the doctors and nurses there. In her retirement, she was instrumental in the early child care of her grandchildren, forging a special bond of love that lifts up her family even now. Her family is deeply grateful and praises her for this lasting and poignant legacy.
The family is being served by Cremation Society of Missouri as were Jeanne's wishes. A visitation will be held July 20th at 9:30 AM, Service at 10:30 AM, both at Assumption Catholic Church, 403 N. Main St., O'Fallon, MO 63366.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
