Glenn Douglas Shanks Sr.February 28, 1958 – April 7, 2026
Glenn Douglas Shanks Sr. passed away, leaving behind a life shaped by service, independence, and personal passions. Born to Acey and Freddie, Glenn was the eldest of the boys in a large family. He shared connections with his brothers, Mark and Reggie, and his sisters, Beverly, Brenda, and Sandra, along with many nieces and nephews who remember him in their own ways.
Glenn was previously married to Gay Antoinette Shanks (Alexander), and together they had four children: Katrina Anya (Andrew Earl Townsend), Krista Alyse (deceased), Karyn Alexandra, and Glenn Douglas Shanks Jr. (Lauren Fitzpatrick). His family continued to grow with the addition of his grandchildren, Rory Riochelle and Acey Douglas Shanks IV.
A veteran of the 1970s, Glenn served in the military during a pivotal time in his life. After his service, he worked in manufacturing as a forklift driver for Lever Brothers, a Unilever company.
Glenn had a passion for motorcycles and appreciated the sense of freedom they brought him. He also enjoyed music, especially soul and funk, which often reflected his personality and mood. In his later years, he spent time volunteering at local St. Louis food banks, contributing to his community in a quiet and meaningful way.
Glenn’s life was made up of many chapters, relationships, and experiences that shaped who he was and how he will be remembered.
