Elizabeth Townsend

Townsend, Elizabeth (Betty) 91 of O’Fallon, Mo. died on December 13, 2023. Betty was born in St. Louis, MO and attended Beaumont High School and St. Louis University. She was married to Richard C. Townsend in January of 1952. They were married for 38 years until Richard’s death in 1990. Together they had 5 children, Rick (deceased), Cindy Ballard, Debbie Anderson (deceased), Sandi Meyer (Dave Wadlington), and John.

She will be missed by her grandchildren, Carol (Tony) Risley, Nichol Barnes (Dusty Reid), Tony Barnes (Kendra Villers), Jackson Meyer (Kim Harden), Alex Meyer, Andrew Meyer (Rachel Latham), Joseph Townsend, and Jacob Townsend. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Danielle Anderson. Her Great-Grandchildren include, Mike (Vanessa) Page, Zacch (Jessica) Page, Kay (Jason) Julian, Madison Horak, Lucas Luebbert, Gage Fink, Kacie Barnes, and Abi Villers. And her Great-Great-Grandchildren Landon, Ryan, Keegan, Hudson, and Jaxon.

Betty worked as a Trust Pension Accountant at Mercantile Bank, retiring in 1996. Betty was very involved in her church and volunteered at DePaul Hospital. She loved all St. Louis had to offer, but her favorites were the Zoo, The Muny and The Fox Theatre. Betty was a passionate, lifelong St. Louis Browns and Cardinals fan and enjoyed Spring Training trips for many years.

As a longtime member of the Genesian Players of Spanish Lake, Betty was involved in all aspects of the organization and was thrilled to be able to perform in the yearly Charitable Productions.

A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday December 30, 2023, at 9:30am with a Mass to follow at 10:30am. Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church located at 403 N. Main Street in O’Fallon, Mo. 63366.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to No Time to Spare Animal Rescue and Sanctuary.
