Douglas R. Broste

d. January 11, 2021

Broste, Douglas Ronald, 46, of St. Peters, MO, died on January 11, 2020.

Doug was born in St. Louis, MO and graduated from Francis Howell North High School ‘93, he continued his education at Northwest Missouri State University (business) ’93-’95, Concordia University of Wisconsin-St Louis Center (business and theology) ’96-98 and Lindenwood University completed a BS in Business ’08.

He worked in transportation for education for more than 20 years as a driver, Location Assistant Manager, Office Coordinator for Routing, etc. Most of which was in service to the Francis Howell School District.

Doug was actively involved with Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church in St. Peters as an Elder, Usher, Men’s Club, Men’s Bible Study Group and volunteer driver for church transportation. He was strong in his faith and shared it with all those he associated with.

Doug was a dedicated and loving Uncle/Superman. He was always just one call away whenever his niece or nephew needed him. He attended games, shows, recitals and supported them in all their endeavors. He was partner in shenanigans and best friend to his sister and loving, compassionate son, “helper/caregiver” for his mom. He was a loyal, compassionate and helpful friend with an ear to listen, words of wisdom or quick wit to cheer or lighten a mood. Doug enjoyed driving the county roads, spending time with his family, rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, and the St. Louis Blues and talking about his faith, the education system, history, Sci-Fi (specifically Star Wars and Harry Potter) and airplanes. He always dreamed for being a pilot and had his first flight lesson just a couple weeks before he passed. He said “it was a dream come true”.

Doug is survived by his Mother Diane M. Broste of St. Peters, MO, Father Dale O. Broste of Manchester, MO, Sister Darla M. (Broste) Hollowood, Brother In-Law Jay J. Hollowood, Niece Analiesa M. Hollowood and Nephew Jay J. Hollowood II of St. Peters, MO.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Henry B. Kuethe and Gertrude M. (Bollmeier) Kuethe, of St. Charles County, MO and fraternal grandparents Ronald V. Broste and Lillian E. (Potter) Broste of Parshall, ND.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 13, 2021. There will be limited seating capacity and those that attend must wear face masks and social distance inside the church. The Memorial Service will be “Live-Streamed” on the church
