Deborah Gilbertsen

Deborah Jane “Debbie” Gilbertsen (née Schob), age 72, passed away on January 14, 2026, in St. Charles, Missouri.

Born on September 26, 1953, Debbie was known for her sharp wit, brassy personality, and unforgettable sense of humor. She had a way of making people laugh, keeping things real, and leaving a lasting impression wherever she went.

On February 2, 1973, Debbie married the love of her life, David Paul Gilbertsen, beginning a marriage that spanned more than five decades. Together they raised two daughters, Corrie and Lauren, who were the absolute center of her world.

Debbie was a proud grandmother to Alec Gilbertsen, Layne Staley, and Stevie Staley. Family was everything to her, and she showed her love through constant support, loyalty, and presence.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Gertrude Schob, and her brother Larry Schob. She is survived by her husband David; daughters Corrie and Lauren; grandsons Alec, Layne, and Stevie; sister Beverly Tobnick; many nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of lifelong friends.

Debbie’s laughter, honesty, and fierce devotion to her family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Details regarding a celebration of life will be announced in the coming weeks.
