Cody Sunby

d. October 1, 2019

Jared Cody Sunby (Cody), 31, unexpectedly left us on October 1st, 2019 following a sudden cardiac arrest event.  Though his death was abrupt, his impact on this world is, most certainly, everlasting.

Cody was born in Springfield, MO on May 19th, 1988 to Tamra Sunby (Williams) and Lawrence Sunby. Cody was born second, to his older sister, Chelsea Conard (Sunby).  He graduated from Monett High School and continued on to receive his Associates of Arts in General Agriculture from Crowder College in May of 2010 and his Bachelors of Science in Wildlife Conservation and Management from Missouri State University in December of 2012. Cody went on to work as an Aquatic Biologist for Aquatic Control and has been happily employed with the company since 2013.  During his time with Aquatic Control, he worked in three of their major offices: the headquarters just south of Indianapolis, Indiana, the office in Evansville, Indiana, and most recently, in the St. Louis, Missouri office.

Cody met his wife, Nicole Sunby (Buerke) in October of 2012. They married on October 29th, 2016 and have been married for, nearly, three years.  He and Nicole have called many places home, but they have most recently resided in St. Peter’s, Missouri.  Within the realm of their marriage, they welcomed a beautiful baby boy to the world, Samuel Owen Sunby, on July 24th, 2018.

Cody had an enthusiastic love for life and for his family and friends. He was frequently found travelling great lengths to see his loved ones as often as he was able.  He was the ultimate dreamer, adventure seeker, and spontaneous “do-er”.  His free time was often occupied with planning the next family adventure or with any number of outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, shooting, off-roading, camping, canoeing, and training his Labrador Retriever, Taco.  In all events, his easy-going, genuine attitude afforded him a kinship that many would envy, and his quick wit and love for sarcasm established smiles and laughter all around.

Cody is survived by his wife, son, parents, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, dear cousins, and beloved friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents.

Personalized memorial arrangements will be held in the not-so-distant future; a specific date has yet to be determined.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that any memorial donations contribute to Samuel’s “Adventure Fund” (https://www.gofundme.com/f/samuel039s-adventures); a fund intended to allow Samuel to experience everything that his daddy had dreamt for him. The family would like to thank anyone, in advance, for any contributions made in Cody’s honor.
